FAQ

The best time is May to June and September to October, when the weather is pleasant and roads are accessible. Early booking ensures better hotels, safer travel, and smoother darshan. These peak months witness high demand, so booking at least 30–45 days in advance helps secure preferred accommodations and avoid last-minute price hikes.

A complete Chardham Yatra from Delhi typically requires 10 to 12 days by car. This duration allows travellers to cover Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath comfortably with proper rest, acclimatization, and darshan time. Shorter itineraries may feel rushed, while longer ones provide more flexibility, especially for senior citizens and families.

Yes, with careful planning. Senior citizens should travel in comfortable vehicles, avoid long driving stretches, and take regular breaks for rest. Proper acclimatization is essential, especially before Kedarnath. Choosing hotels near temples, using pony/helicopter options, and keeping essential medicines handy ensures a safe and manageable journey for elderly travelers.

Accommodation ranges from standard hotels, deluxe properties, GMVN guest houses, and basic lodges in high-altitude areas. Facilities differ by location—lower regions offer better amenities, while places like Kedarnath and Yamunotri provide simpler stays. Travelers should expect clean rooms, hot water (limited), and warm food—luxury options are limited due to terrain.

Travelers need a valid ID proof (Aadhaar/Passport/Voter ID), photographs, and Yatra registration, which is mandatory by the Uttarakhand Government. It’s advisable to carry medical prescriptions, hotel vouchers, and emergency contacts. Always register online before starting the trip for a smoother experience and verified entry at every Dham checkpoint.

Yes, medical support is available at major stops like Guptkashi, Sonprayag, Uttarkashi, and Joshimath. Basic first-aid, oxygen support, and emergency medical help are provided. However, facilities near Kedarnath and Yamunotri are limited. Travelers with health issues should consult a doctor beforehand and carry essential medicines throughout the journey.

The Kedarnath trek is 16 km from Gaurikund and moderately difficult due to steep ascents and high altitude. Senior citizens or those with medical conditions can choose helicopter services, pony, or doli. Starting early morning, staying hydrated, and taking breaks make the trek manageable for most travelers.
